Saturday, July 31

Sometimes the light is just right. Temperature was like a sauna, but the light was good.

Friday, July 30

Sometimes I look at her and think "she's going to be driving soon".

Thursday, July 29

She only eats puréed things. I wonder what a puréed hamburger would taste like. You know, hamburger with all the works meets blender. Today I'm thankful that I can chew.

Wednesday, July 28

I cut up the watermelon to make more room in the fridge. The one redeeming feature of summer is the fresh fruit.

Tuesday, July 27

Starbucks Via (instant!) coffee and puffed wheat squares. She slept over 2 hours this morning, what a treat! I'm looking forward to making crafts with her.

Monday, July 26

The backsplash is up and grouted. Now we just need to wait a couple days to seal it. It looks fantastic. It's strange to see it finished.

Sunday, July 25

A photo shoot with a dress I wore. Teething has made her very clingy. But she's also started giving great cuddles. She's so close to crawling.

Saturday, July 24

Progress is so sweet. I've only been waiting, oh, a year for this backsplash. But it's going up this weekend. What will we do if we finish all the projects?

Friday, July 23

Spinach salad for lunch and homemade burgers for supper. "We're" finally working on tiling our kitchen backsplash. I love seeing progress and before and after photos; a makeover is energizing.

Thursday, July 22

It rained off and on all day. She napped really poorly, but at bedtime she went without a peep and didn't move an inch. Best summer weather ever.

Wednesday, July 21

She and I went grocery shopping, so the fridge is full. Hello, blueberries from Aldergrove, welcome to Quesnel!

Tuesday, July 20

Happy 9th Anniversary to us! Strawberry smoothies to celebrate. We ate to the tune of Baby Einstein. He’s working tonight, so we'll celebrate Monday. She woke at 4:30 am screaming.

Monday, July 19

I steamed, puréed and froze the peas. She loved them! Then she discovered that when she's done eating, if she accepts more food, she can spit it.

Sunday, July 18

I shelled the peas from our weekly farm crate. I'm going to try making baby food with them. BBQ chicken quesadillas for supper. Enjoying this cool summer weather.

Saturday, July 17

We had beef donairs at a Billy Barker Days booth. They were terrific and we want to try to make them ourselves. She didn't want to do a photo shoot.

Friday, July 16

We seem to be managing her teething medication better; she's sleeping better and less fussy. Still no teeth to show for it. I'm learning more about my camera.

Thursday, July 15

I love bringing flowers in the house. The smell of lavender is dreamy. A posie a day keeps the dreary away.

Wednesday, July 14

She's started to say "mamamamama". Not sure she means me yet. She's started giving the best cuddles before bed. I watered my flowers this evening, including my seedlings.

Tuesday, July 13

Today I started the Happy Heart Plan for the Crabby Teether. Aiming for more than 20-minute naps and less screaming. Mostly successful. Still waiting to see any teeth.

Monday, July 12

A much cooler day today, I love it! We made 23 burritos to freeze. Framing some pictures to try to sell in a local gift shop.

Sunday, July 11

He had to work a day shift. She and I walked to church. Then I stayed cool in the basement with a blueberry-strawberry smoothie.

Saturday, July 10

It rained today. I love rain. But it stopped in time for us to get cherries at the Farmer's Market. I’m trying to get her to nap longer.

Friday, July 9

We went to the library to get books for her for the first time. Spoons are one of her current favourite toys, so I keep one in my purse.

Thursday, July 8

We made sausages and eggs for brunch. He fried it on the camp stove on the patio because it was 28° by 9:30 this morning.

Wednesday, July 7

So we slept at home during our "camping" trip. But we returned to enjoy the space during the day. Wash bins filled with water kept us cool.

Tuesday, July 6

We tried camping for the first time with our 8-month old daughter. 30+ degrees during the day and 5 at night is tricky. Add chain-smoking, music-blaring neighbours and…we bailed.

Monday, July 5

I went to the lake to take pictures and read. It was a beautiful warm, breezy day. I anticipated great weather for our camping trip.
